Selina and Zohaib
When Selina and Zohaib, two of my childhood friends, decided to get married in January 2013, I struggled to give them a unique and timeless gift that would do justice to the almost two-decade-long friendship between us.

I wanted to give them something that they could remember me by forever. Though we are close friends, we grew up to be quite different – I became a photographer, Selina a doctor, and Zohaib a banker. However, there is one thing we will always have in common: all three of us are products of Beaconhouse and were in school together until our O Level exams in 2000.

The last time we were at Defense Campus Karachi (the last O Level batch to graduate from there before everyone moved to Jubilee Campus), it was for our Farewell Party. Twelve years later, we went there again with permission from the administration for Selina and Zohaib's wedding photo shoot.

It was one of my most memorable photo shoots ever as we explored our much-changed surroundings and reminisced about the past while walking around the campus. We took pictures at all our old hangouts and classes. It was an experience none of us would ever forget because it was immortalised in the photos we took that day.

I would like to sincerely thank Beaconhouse and its administration (and the security guards, who stayed overtime to help us). You helped us make some timeless memories!

Syed Murtaza Abbas Zaidi

My story starts 20 years ago, when I was 3 years old. My parents enrolled me in a Beaconhouse school in Rawalpindi, where my journey towards excellence started. After one year, we moved to Lahore and I was fortunate enough to get admission to Beaconhouse Defence Campus (which I still think is the best school in the world). 12 years later, with straight As in O and A Level examinations, I made it through the entrance test for University of Engineering and Technology, one of the most prestigious engineering universities in Lahore.

One and a half year ago, I was called for a job interview by one of the world's largest construction companies, Chicago Bridge & Iron. The mention of Beaconhouse Defence Campus on my CV and the excellent grades I achieved gave me a strong footing in the interview. Since then, I have worked in Pakistan, Dubai, Thailand and Holland, and I am looking forward to my next international assignment before I even turn 24.

My name is Syed Murtaza Abbas Zaidi and I am a proud Beaconite.
